This weekend is the Desiring God National Conference here in Minneapolis. We are looking forward to Tim and Gary coming up from Fort Worth. The conference has been sold out for weeks (over 3000 people are coming) and Matt and I won't be going. We pray that God will exalt Himself and bless his kingdom through the teaching and worship! The conference sessions will be available for MP3 download at www.desiringgod.org just days after the conference is ended, so we plan on listening and learning that way.
Pastor John's new book What Jesus Demands of the World is out! This is the book he wrote over the 5months he was on Sabbatical at Cambridge. It also is available online to download for FREE. If you don't mind reading on the computer, or you want to preview before buying, this is a fantastic option.
Matt and I are really enjoying Bethlehem. The Word is exalted every weekend, and we are exhorted and excited by the teaching, worship, fellowship. The Lord has clearly brought us here and we are delighted with His path. Also, the "audition rotations" Matt is doing in hopes of securing his chosen residency are going REALLY well. God is blessing his efforts and giving him good face time with attendings. He has also found fellowship with the drs over the global health track. The director of the Pediatric division is a strong believer who has spent alot of time overseas!!
I have a drs appt next Friday (Oct 6) to confirm that I am really pregnant. =) (10weeks by then) And we are praying that the insurance situation will process quickly and easily after that.
Oh, lastly, as a silly aside. It was announced this morning that the 2008 Republican National Convention is to be held in the Twin Cities. Considering they had it in New York in 2006, I guess they won't be shocked by any hostilities from the natives. Haha. MN as a whole may lean more conservative, but you definitely get the feeling the Cities are super liberal.
